Ontological Approach


Ontological Approach

Ontology is defined as the study of being. In our ontological approach, we work with the key aspects of how the client has structured their reality and the nature of their experience. One distinguishing characteristic of our ontologies is that they are based on an Open World Assumption (OWA) which is based on the AAA slogan or Anyone can say Anything about Any topic. Statements that are not included in an ontology are considered unknown as opposed to false.

The client’s perspective is then able to support their team environment and provide tools to develop a more constructive reality that will lead to positive changes in the client’s world.
Ontological coaching works with three areas: language, emotions and body. The coach observes how:
1. The language the client uses
2. Emotional experiences of the client
3. The way language and emotion are configured in the client’s body
The coach respectfully inquires with the client on how to shifts are able to take place in each domain, and how to construct new perspectives that open new doorways of opportunities for the client.

Team Building

Team building is about working with the team leader and team members to establish a mission, strategies and rules of engagement with each other. We work with the team to develop goals, plans of actions and identifying and defining the role of each member to achieve the goals. Team leaders and members may be coached individually or collectively to facilitate on how to enhance team effectiveness to achieve the goals.

Executive support is individualized to each client. It is an experiential development process that build’s an individual’s capability to achieve short and long term organizational goals. This is accomplished through one on one interaction with the help of data compiled from many sources. There is a partnership between the coach, the executive and the organization and the aim is to achieve maximum impact. Executive support encompasses:

Developmental Direction

Developmental Direction helps high-potential managers to develop key competencies. We work with the organization to develop individuals who have been identified as key resources to the organization’s future. An assessment center approach is usually used to identify the competency gap and to develop individual plans based on the assessment results. The client will improve  competencies as structured process.

What we are NOT

Advantace does not set goals for clients.  You are the sole setter of your goals.

Professional corporate consulting does not tell the client what to do, though it does hold the client accountable to their own goals.
